Dr. Miles Mazzawi

Born and raised in Snellville, GA, Dr. Miles Mazzawi comes from a dental family! In fact, his parents and four siblings are all dentists with their own thriving family practice back home.

Growing up in a dental office, Dr. Miles understood early on the incredible power of dentistry, and how transforming a smile could improve a person's life. Naturally, he gravitated towards the family business, and today he couldn’t be happier with his decision. Better still, he not only gets to experience the joy of working with kids, he also gets to work alongside his wife, Dr. Drew!

Dr. Miles earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia and his dental degree at the Medical College of Georgia. After practicing general dentistry at his family’s practice for two years, he realized he loved working with children, and returned to school for his pediatric dental training, completing his pediatric dental residency at the Health Science Center of San Antonio, Texas in 2005.

Dr. Miles and Dr. Drew are proud parents of their own twin daughters, Anne and Mary, who they love traveling and spending time in nature with. Their family also includes their two labs, Ford and Duke. In his free time, Dr. Miles enjoys running, biking, swimming, and watching sports (Go Dawgs)!

Dr. Anthea Drew Mazzawi

Dr. Anthea Drew Mazzawi loves being able to work with children and watch them grow up over time, all the while helping to protect their smiles. She appreciates the many opportunities she gets throughout the day to have fun and be silly, too!

Dr. Drew earned her dental degree at the University of Florida College of Dentistry and completed her pediatric dental residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. She then moved to Atlanta where she worked at a large group dental office and became a Board-Certified pediatric dentist in 2006, opening Cherokee Children's Dentistry a year later.

Since then, Dr. Drew served as President of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 2018 and has also been on several committees and councils for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is the current chairman of the Scientific Program Committee for the Annual Session, and the chairman of the Greater Atlanta Dental Foundation Gala Committee, as well as the secretary for the GA Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Married to Dr. Miles, they are also proud parents to twin daughters Anne and Mary, and pet parents to two labs named Duke and Ford. In her spare time, Dr. Drew loves to travel, attend college football games, run marathons, and entertain family and friends at home.

Dr. Kristin Piche

Dr. Kristin Piche always had an interest in healthcare. In fact, she knew from a young age that she wanted to help people, and because she enjoyed going to the dentist so much and working with kids, pediatric dentistry felt like a natural fit.

Dr. Kristin earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia, and her dental doctorate and certificate in pediatric dentistry at the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University. She is currently a proud, active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Georgia Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry.

When she’s not helping children get dazzling, healthy smiles, Dr. Kristin enjoys spending time with her friends, parents, brother, and her Maltipoo, Bear. She is also an avid fan of college football, reality television and movies, and the Braves!

Cherokee Children’s Dentistry is the absolute best! Dr. Miles and Dr. Drew are amazing as well as all the other dentists and staff. I have three kiddos, and I wouldn’t trust their dental care to anyone else!

Why Are You Looking for a Dentist for Your Child?

Whether your child needs standard preventive services or has developed an issue requiring treatment, our team of experts is eager to help. Continue reading to learn more about the specific services we offer, and feel free to contact us with additional questions.

My Child Needs A Checkup & Cleaning

It’s recommended that kids have their first dental exam by the time their first tooth grows in, which is usually around their first birthday, then every 6 months to help guide their still=-developing smile. Our team in Ellijay looks forward to providing routine checkups and cleanings to prevent common oral issues, such as cavities and gum disease, from developing.

We might also recommend a topical fluoride treatment to strengthen their enamel, and are happy to take the time to teach them how to take care of their teeth and gums by brushing and flossing at home.

My Child Wants To Enhance Their Smile

If you have a child or teenager at home who feels self-conscious about how their smile looks or is worried about being judged, our team offers multiple cosmetic services intended to improve their appearance and boost their confidence.

For instance, stubborn stains can be reduced with professional-strength teeth whitening procedures in the office. We also offer dental bonding that can be customized to match your child’s enamel to repair chips and cracks, rebuild worn-down teeth, close minor gaps, or hide discoloration that doesn’t respond to topical treatments.

My Child Has a Cavity/Broken Tooth

Our team uses resilient, tooth-colored materials to provide restorations, like dental fillings and crowns, to treat decayed or damaged enamel. These solutions can be made to match the size, shape, and shade of your kid’s natural teeth for seamless results that prevent additional damage and allow them to continue using their injured teeth to eat, speak, and smile as usual.

My Child is Nervous/Scared of the Dentist

Many kids near Ellijay feel nervous when it comes to sitting in the dentist’s chair, so our team offers two types of sedation to help them remain calm and comfortable throughout their visit.

Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is inhaled through a mask placed over their nose while we work, and oral conscious medications are taken as a pill before arriving for their visit, so the effects kick in by the time we start their procedure. Neither option is intended to ‘knock them out’, but they may not remember the details of their appointment afterwards.

My Child Wants To Straighten Their Smile

Our board-certified providers near Ellijay offer various services to help correct any bite or dental misalignments that might otherwise affect how their smile develops. For instance, early interceptive orthodontics can be offered to patients as young as 3 years old to avoid the need for more invasive and costly procedures later.

I Am Worried About Bleeding Gums

My Child is in Pain & Needs Help

Dental emergencies, such as sudden or severe toothaches, can be intimidating, but our practice near Ellijay sets aside time for same-day visits for urgent situations. Once you arrive, we can offer sedation to reduce your child’s discomfort and examine their condition to determine the root problem. Then, we use state-of-the-art technology to devise a customized treatment plan, such as a tooth extraction, to address the issue and provide long-term relief.
